A therapy dog is a dog who, with their handler, has been deemed ready to provide Canine-Assisted Interventions by a Therapy Dog Certification Organization.
Oknooshoon has created a standard for therapy dog and handler training and certification, unique to Armenia but with standards aligned with those of other countries who use therapy animals. By creating such standards that ensure health and safety, Oknooshoon hopes to make the concept of therapy dogs palatable and desirable for the Armenian community. |

Oknooshoon's goal is to use these newly developed standards to train rescued street dogs as therapy animals, thus providing homes for dogs and therapeutic interventions for people who can benefit from them.
Additionally, the use of rescue dogs will showcase the positive qualities of dogs, even those off the street, and in turn provide a foundation on which to strengthen the human-canine bond in Armenia.
